AAAHP has received notification of receipt of our submission. The public consultation round of submissions will commence later this year, which we also hope to have input into. One avenue included in our initial submission, and we will consider adding it to future submissions, is that only AAAHP members will have access to these changes to the medication and administration standards of NSW. We will also follow up on support from ANZCA and the ASA as well as Ramsay Healthcare who have shown early interest in supporting us in getting this legislation changed. We will keep you updated on future changes.
AAAHP has received the latest proposed NSW Pharmacy legislation. We still do not feel that enough has been implemented into these guidelines to offer adequate coverage and access for our profession, in NSW, to access these medications. As such we have again submitted our feedback to the current legislation and should have an update on this issue leading into the 2024. Current NSW Pharmacy Guidelines as of October 2023 .

AAAHP NSW committee representatives and the AAAHP President, have been invited by NSW health to discuss our recent submission regarding Anaesthesia Practioner access to S8 & S4D medication in NSW. This meeting will take place in February and the outcome from this will be published here.

The AAAHP president, Mr Shane Guy, and the 2 NSW representatives, Mr Ganson Govender and Mr Ray Murtagh, met with representatives of NSW Health regarding our profession in NSW having access to the S8&S4D medication. The outcome from the meeting was very positive with both parties coming to a compromised agreement that will ensure that our profession in NSW comes into equitable status with our profession in other states. More information regarding these changes, which have been indicated may not come into force until early 2025, will be published here.
